Particle Production at RHIC
نویسنده
چکیده
Identified hadron spectra and ratios provide a unique tool to study the bulk particle production in heavy-ion collisions and explore the QCD phase diagram. In these proceedings we present the analysis of charged pion, kaon and (anti)proton distributions from √ s NN = 200 and 62.4 GeV Cu+Cu collisions, collected by the STAR experiment. New measurements extend the systematic studies of bulk properties, addressing the energy and the system size dependence of freeze-out parameters at RHIC. The available centrality selection of Cu+Cu data bridge the gap between the smaller d+Au and larger Au+Au systems, allowing a detailed study of baryon relative to meson and strangeness production as function of system size.

Particle production at RHIC energies
This paper presents recent results from the BRAHMS experiment at RHIC; including results on particle production in rapidity space extending from y=0 to y ∼ 3 and on the transverse momentum distribution of fully identified charged particles. These results were obtained from the 5% most central Au-Au collisions recorded during RHIC Run-2 at √ sNN = 200 GeV.
متن کاملGlobal Observables at RHIC
The first three measurements from the RHIC program were results on global observables: charged particle multiplicity (Nch), transverse energy (ET ) and elliptic flow (v2). They offer a look at the large-scale features of particle production in high-energy nuclear collisions, with particular insight into entropy production and collective behavior. Results from all of the RHIC experiments are dis...
متن کاملZ - Scaling at Rhic
The concept of z-scaling reflecting the general regularities of high-p T particle production is reviewed. Properties of data z-presentation are discussed. New data on high-p T particle spectra obtained at the RHIC are analyzed in the framework of z-presentation. It was shown that these experimental data confirm z-scaling. Predictions of strange particle spectra are considered to be useful for u...
متن کاملStrangeness and Statistical Hadronization: How to Study Quark–Gluon Plasma
Statistical hadronization is presented as mechanism for (strange) particle production from a deconfined quark–gluon plasma (QGP) fireball. We first consider hadronic resonance production at RHIC as a test of the model. We present in detail how the hadrochemistry determines particle multiplicities and in case of sudden hadronization allows investigation of QGP properties. A comparative study of ...
متن کاملStrange Particle Production Mechanisms in Proton-Proton Collisions at RHIC
Abstract. We present data on strange particle production in elementary proton-proton collisions at RHIC energies. Comparison to leading order and next-to-leading order (NLO) calculations shows that the fragmentation process is flavor dependent and that higher order corrections are needed to describe all spectra, in particular at these collision energies, which are modest compared to the Tevatro...
متن کاملStrangeness production from SPS to LHC
Global strangeness production in relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS and RHIC is reviewed. Special emphasis is put on the comparison with the statistical model and the canonical suppression mechanism. It is shown that recent RHIC data on strange particle production as a function of centrality can be explained by a superposition of a fully equilibrated hadron gas and particle emission from ...
